2024 Ram 3500: The Beast Has Arrived

The 2024 Ram 3500 is called a heavy-duty truck for a reason - it can tow a shocking 37,090 pounds when maxed out! But the 3500 is more than just a towing beast. It's a true workhorse that's ready for anything you throw at it, whether you need to haul equipment to the job site or tow your camper on a weekend getaway. Even the payload is unbelievable - pile up to 7,680 pounds of gear and equipment into the bed with the available RamBox Cargo Management System. It's got locking, draining storage bins on each side with bright LED lights so you can see what you're doing. You even get handy things like a power outlet right there in the front and the ability to pop open the RamBoxes with your key fob. 

Now the 37K tow rating does require upgrading to the most powerful engine, which we'll get to shortly. More modest yet still mighty configurations allow for 18,210 to 22,660 pounds of towing muscle.

But for that peak 37,090-pound tow rating, you'll need the High Output version of the Cummins Turbo Diesel. This top-dog engine cranks out 420 horsepower and a ground-shaking 1,075 lb-ft torque! With all that weight behind you, you're going to need plenty of fuel. The RAM 3500 delivers with a huge available 50-gallon tank, the biggest in its class.

Tech needs are handled by the 12-inch Uconnect touchscreen interface with five driver profile memory settings. Clever touches like the digital rearview mirror, 360-degree cameras, and trailer view cams increase visibility and make trailering less stressful. 

As the most affordable trim in the lineup, the Tradesman comes ready to get work done. The standard 6.4L V8 provides 410 horsepower through the 32-gallon tank. Inside, the five-inch Uconnect screen and durable vinyl seats get the job done without frills. A clean air filtration system keeps the Tradesman fresh.  

On the outside, the Tradesman sports tough black bumpers front and rear and 18-inch steel wheels. A class V hitch receiver and a 7-pin wiring harness make trailering a breeze. Finally, the stabilizer bar and auto grille shutters allow this bare-bones Ram to still work and ride comfortably all day long.  

Moving up the lineup, the Big Horn amps up capability with the High Output 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel. It also adds heavy-duty engine cooling to keep temps in check when you're pulling big loads. Polished 18-inch aluminum wheels also join the party, along with chrome front/rear bumpers. 

Integrated tow hooks enable easy vehicle recovery while power adjustable mirrors with supplemental signals expand sight lines. Dual maintenance-free batteries and 220-amp alternator feed the electrical system. Inside, rear AC vents, cloth bench seating and six speakers bring passengers more comfort. 

Here is where luxury makes its first appearance. Inside, you're treated to heated leather seats with suede inserts. Infotainment goes big time with the Uconnect 5 system on a vivid 8.4-inch touchscreen display paired with a nine-speaker Alpine audio system (including subwoofer.) The rearview mirror can automatically dim to reduce headlight glare and dual-zone automatic climate control lets you and your passenger dial in your ideal temp.
